About
I'm a licensed Kids Can Sew instructor giving lessons for four years. Small classes of four. Teaching basic sewing to people 8 years old and older. Sewing is a life skill that you can look to throughout your life. Once you know the basics you can do mending, create home decor to match your style, make clothes that fit you perfectly and make gifts for others.
I started sewing as a child making Barbie clothes and took a few classes when they were offered. In high school I really caught the bug and under the direction of a great teacher I learned more and more about clothing construction. Throughout my 20s I made a lot of my career wardrobe; however with the birth of two children and a full-time career in Museum Management I no longer had the time to sew.
In 2013 I had to retire to care for my 24-year-old son. Homebound for the first time in my life, I reached out to the kids nextdoor and taught them how to sew over the summer. That Fall I started Kreative Thread Studio.
Now in business five years, I have taught more than 60 children and adults the joy of sewing. Throughout the year many of my students come together to sew for charity--gifts we make to donate to Mercy Kids at Christmas.
I'd love to show you how sewing can be a fun and enjoyable hobby, as well as a practical skill.

The creative part of sewing is the most rewarding part. With a few basic skills I can design and create just about anything I wish. Choosing fabrics, buying patterns, creating my own patterns and the entire process of putting everything together is wonderful way to feel accomplished.
