About

I have been working in the entertainment/ clothing industry for over 20 years.

I have worked in cosplay, steampunk, high fashion, films, theme parks and so much more.

I love helping my customers and students learn how to make clothing, quilts, masks, and more.

Exploring old and new sewing techniques. Learning how to read patterns, understanding fabrics, and trims, and finding ways to be creative on a budget are my favorite.

    Frequently asked questions

Sewing and Seamstressing are best taught as a hands-on skill.   I don't mind communicating with students about simple questions, but for learning the age-old techniques of sewing it really needs to be done one on one.

Getting together and learning the basics is the start of the process.  Once the student has a handle on the basics, then we can move forward to working on specific projects.

Then the student can make appointments to meet with me when they run into problems or need help with new techniques or concepts.

I have been sewing for over 20 years now.  I have come from a long line of seamstresses, textile sellers, and master quilters.

I have had the opportunity to learn from countless mentors and have worked in theaters, theme parks, fashion shows, cosplay conventions...

My classic lessons range from $45- $60 an hour.

Harder techniques like quilting and beadwork can be more.

The student pays for all of the materials and tools unless discussed beforehand.

I charge $.50 per mile for anything that is 45 miles or more away from my home.

I have always enjoyed teaching.  Sewing and Seamstressing have always been something that people what to learn how to do, so I have always enjoyed teaching them.

I have worked with older students who never learned how to sew, homeschooled students, college students...

I love attending Cosplay Conventions.  I recently presented panels to a Cosplay Convention called Visioncon in Springfield MO.  I love being around other people who love to sew, construct and wear their creations.

Make sure you are hiring someone who has experience SEWING with a SEWING MACHINE.  Also, look for reviews or references from other clients and students who have taken lessons from the teacher.  Often people sew one or 2 items then begin charging for sewing lessons thinking they will make quick money.  Also, be prepared to NOT learn how to "sew" in one lesson.  Sewing takes time to learn.

What do you actually want to learn?  How to use your sewing machine? How to read a pattern? How to quilt?

Do you just want to learn new skills, or do you want to finish a project start to finish?
