About this pro

Byourbreath is excited to announce individual and group meditation sessions to teach coping strategies to increase well being and enhance self care by teaching deep breathing and mindful exercises to create inner peace of mind, body, and spirit.

Our breath is our source, and I enjoy sharing the many lessons I've learned with my personal practice of meditation. We often tend to live a fast forward life, constantly moving and juggling so many different variables. Sometimes we get to a point that we develop unhealthy coping strategies that may temporarily create a sense of peace but then we find ourselves going right back into the unbalanced fast forward life. Meditation has created an inner peace and awareness that I'm excited to share with others.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Byourbreath provides a 30 minute consultation fee.I meet with my new student and discuss the fundamentals and listen to what the student is wanting to gain.

After the initial 30 minute sessions I offer 45 minute sessions each student receives their personal guide to their individual practice with meditation.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have my Master's in Education specializing in Rehabilitation Counseling. I've worked in Human Services for 30 years.

I attended Charlotte Meditation and received my certification to teach mindful meditation. I began teaching to youth in CMS schools in August 2018. I opened a studio in my home and started byourbreath LLC. I provide individual and group sessions.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

The initial 30 minute consultation is $25.00.

45 minute individual sessions are $65.00

How did you get started teaching?

In January 2016 I had some life changing events. My son graduated HS and left home for college. I was in the process of finalizing a divorce. I started a new job with intense responsibilities. I also began experiencing medical concerns. I was experiencing a low in my life and an increase level of anxiety. I started to feel as though the walls were slowly crumbling and I was no longer able to sustain the strength to just think clear.  I began attending weekly meditation classes and began my very own individual practice and my life began to change drastically. I decided that it was important for me to teach others and incorporate my counseling skills and background skills and share my story with others to help others create the inner peace that we all deserve to have in life.

What types of students have you worked with?

I've worked with K-12 students for the past 3 years. I've worked with a diverse group of Adults that experience traumatic events and high levels of anxiety.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I taught a virtual group class with young men that were experiencing anxiety with Covid 19 changes working on line, not being able to experience a prom or graduating and nervous about college.

The young men learned several techniques to help with stress, anxiety, and frustrations.
I received a call from the instructor 2 weeks later requesting that I teach another session because the young men were excited and wanted to learn more because the techniques they learned from that one session was a great help when dealing with their stressors.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Meditation is your own individual practice. My role as your teacher is to share the benefits and teach techniques. It is important that each individual is aware that having meditation with me weekly is a guide to increase self care however the true practice to gain the benefits from meditating is an individual daily practice.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

Students should think about what they need to balance and create a healthy mind, body, and spirit.
