I needed a better way to do yoga!
My name is Shelly, and I am the owner of Breezy Balance Yoga in Charlotte, NC. I began doing yoga a few years back after I was in a bad car wreck that left me with constant dizziness and found that I really liked it, but it made me a sweaty mess, and I didn’t like that.
I decided to become a yoga teacher and start a practice built around breeze. I was positive that there were others out there that wanted to do yoga, but wanted to do it in a place that appreciated cooler temperatures and breeze filled classes. Then I decided to expand my practice to include seniors, menopausal women and plus sized students; that was when the rubber met the road and my practice started to pick up. I’d get emails saying that I was exactly what people were looking for. This made my heart sing :-) So I now spend my days teaching yoga, breathing techniques and meditation to all sorts of different people for all sorts of different reasons :-)

I love changing people's perception of yoga and seeing them smile when they have a break through :-) It delights me to hear when someone no longer needs pain medication for something that had ailed them... yoga really has the power to sometimes break you from being pill dependent... that was certainly the case for me!
Shelly is NOT your usual yoga teacher!! Despite being a plus sized person, she moves with grace and strength so makes me feel like I can do it too. I'm glad she was my teacher or I might not have gone to the second class.
Shelly is funny and makes yoga more fun, she doesn't take it so seriously
We meet at a location that's comfortable for them (could be their house, a coffee shop, a park) and we discuss what they hope to accomplish. I take their history into account when sequencing a gentle, deep stretch class and lead them through an hour class. Afterwards we discuss what they liked, what they didn't and I design their next class sequence even more precisely to meet their goals. A few rounds of this have proven to be a successful model for most of my students as they begin to notice differences in their bodies.
