About this pro

I needed a better way to do yoga!

My name is Shelly, and I am the owner of Breezy Balance Yoga and Yoga For Larger Bodies in Greensboro, NC.

I found yoga after a car wreck that left me with constant dizziness.  Doctors told me to "embrace pain management as my new normal..."  Yoga found its way into my life and solved my dizziness -with no pills.

I decided to become a yoga teacher to share that there are other modes of healing the body for those that aren't interested in a life of pill dependence.

I’d get emails saying that I was exactly what people were looking for.  This made my heart sing :-)   So I now spend my days teaching yoga, breathing techniques and meditation to all sorts of different people for all sorts of different reasons :-)

If you think you’re too out of shape, too old, too (insert your word here) PLEASE contact me…  I can help you gain all the benefits of yoga no matter what your story has been  :-)

Please contact me to discuss your goal, we'll find a way to make it work!

You can see more about me and my classes at

I love changing people's perception of yoga and seeing them smile when they have a break through  :-)  It delights me to hear when someone no longer needs pain medication for something that had ailed them.

Shelly is NOT your usual yoga teacher!! Despite being a plus sized person, she moves with grace and strength so makes me feel like I can do it too. I'm glad she was my teacher or I might not have gone to the second class.

Shelly is funny and makes yoga more fun, she doesn't take it so seriously

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I take their history into account when sequencing a gentle, deep stretch class and lead them through an hour class.  Afterwards we discuss what they liked, what they didn't and I design their next class sequence even more precisely to meet their goals.  A few rounds of this have proven to be a successful model for most of my students as they begin to notice differences in their bodies.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I own my own yoga business

There are currently 160 students in my private niche group

I'm comfortable teaching in unique settings such as: farms for "Goat Yoga", pools for Pool Yoga and outdoors for Full Moon classes.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

All yoga is not the same!  Investigate the different types of yoga before you buy anything.  Decide which type serves you best before attending just any class :-)
