Hello my name is Marc Taylor I was born and raised in San Diego and started playing baseball at the age of 5 and played until my sophomore year in college. I had the privilege to share the feild with multiple friends who made it to show, but during High School I started coaching some younger players and I found that I almost enjoyed teaching more than playing, and if you choose to take lessons with me you'll get your money's worth I can help with fielding, catching, and my favorite outfield and hitting as I'm a naturally amadextris and switch hit so I can help with both sides of the plate. My name is Coach Robert Russell. I have coached basketball, soccer, and football as far as the game and the whole team together. Growing up i had the pleasure and opportunity of playing them all some where or another. I enjoy getting to teach sports and the opportunity to work with the youth. Watching them develop their skills and become the leaders that they are. There are allot of rewards getting to work with the youth that money cannot give you, like a fulfillment. A sense of purpose for me. I also enjoy hanging around athletic fields and courts....

Your Baseball Training questions, answered

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Lessons.

How much do private baseball lessons cost?

Private baseball lessons cost $50 to $75 per 30-minute lesson and $80 to $140 per 1-hour lesson. The price depends on your location, the instructor's experience and reputation, the student's age, and whether the lesson includes extras like a video analysis of the player's performance.

Many coaches offer lower prices per lesson if you purchase a package that includes 6 or 10 lessons. The average package prices are:

  • 6 pack of 30-minute lessons: $270 – $420
  • 6 pack of 1-hour lessons: $450 – $720
  • 10 pack of 30-minute lessons: $400 – $600
  • 10 pack of 1-hour lessons: $700 – $1,100

Are private baseball lessons worth it?

Private baseball lessons may be worth it if your child currently plays the sport, loves it, and has expressed an interest in improving their skills and performance. Private lessons can help your child advance their skills, develop good habits, and avoid forming bad habits.

Motivation and a drive to improve are key factors in whether or not the lessons will actually help your child. It's important for your child to practice in between private lessons.

Children who receive private baseball lessons are usually more likely to advance to playing at higher levels than children who only receive group coaching during regular team practice. However private lessons don't guarantee your child will play collegiate or professional baseball.

What is the difference between private and semi-private baseball lessons?

In a private baseball lesson, the athlete trains one-on-one with an instructor who tailors the lesson specifically to their needs and skill level. In a semi-private lesson, two athletes work together with one instructor. Semi-private lessons, also called partner lessons, typically cost 10% to 20% less than private lessons. However, because the trainer's attention is divided between the two athletes, the athletes don't get the same level of individualized instruction as they would in a private lesson.

What age should you start pitching lessons?

Baseball instructors generally recommend that children start pitching lessons at around 8 to 12 years old, though there are no age requirements or exact rules. Learning fundamental pitching skills early on can help your child avoid developing bad habits that will be difficult for them to break later.

However, your child should not start taking pitching lessons until they are comfortable throwing the ball as well as catching the ball one-handed.
