Jason T. says, "Coach Jim has a wealth of knowledge about baseball (and great stories as well!). He is great with my son (9 years old), breaking things down so he is able to understand and apply the concepts in his own practices and games. We also really like that Coach Jim incorporates technology into his lessons. My son really likes the immediate feedback on whether he did something well or needed to improve. Overall, I would highly recommend Coach Jim if you are looking for baseball lessons for your child." Read more

Hello my name is Marc Taylor I was born and raised in San Diego and started playing baseball at the age of 5 and played until my sophomore year in college. I had the privilege to share the feild with multiple friends who made it to show, but during High School I started coaching some younger players and I found that I almost enjoyed teaching more than playing, and if you choose to take lessons with me you'll get your money's worth I can help with fielding, catching, and my favorite outfield and hitting as I'm a naturally amadextris and switch hit so I can help with both sides of the plate. I'm fun and easy going and we will have our share of

Omni L. says, "Coach A is absolutely amazing! I found her on this app and the communication was on point. I was looking for someone to help train my daughter (5yrs old) who is new to the game of basketball but wants to learn the ins and out of the game. I booked the girls only session on Sundays and it’s the best investment I’ve made this new year. Coach A is super passionate and patient. My daughter left the first session pumped and inspired. I’m excited for the basketball journey and super thankful for Coach A’s help!!!! #teamwetrainfly " Read more

I connect very well with kids and am very good when it comes to improving their baseball skills no matter what level they are currently at. I do lessons in Pitching, Hitting, Fielding, Throwing, Catching.. Pretty much anything baseball/baseball fitness related I do. I love the feeling of helping kids and getting to teach kids how to do things the correct way while also bettering themselves on and off the field...

Your Baseball Training questions, answered

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Lessons.com.

How much do private baseball lessons cost?

Private baseball lessons cost $50 to $75 per 30-minute lesson and $80 to $140 per 1-hour lesson. The price depends on your location, the instructor's experience and reputation, the student's age, and whether the lesson includes extras like a video analysis of the player's performance.

Many coaches offer lower prices per lesson if you purchase a package that includes 6 or 10 lessons. The average package prices are:

  • 6 pack of 30-minute lessons: $270 – $420
  • 6 pack of 1-hour lessons: $450 – $720
  • 10 pack of 30-minute lessons: $400 – $600
  • 10 pack of 1-hour lessons: $700 – $1,100

Are private baseball lessons worth it?

Private baseball lessons may be worth it if your child currently plays the sport, loves it, and has expressed an interest in improving their skills and performance. Private lessons can help your child advance their skills, develop good habits, and avoid forming bad habits.

Motivation and a drive to improve are key factors in whether or not the lessons will actually help your child. It's important for your child to practice in between private lessons.

Children who receive private baseball lessons are usually more likely to advance to playing at higher levels than children who only receive group coaching during regular team practice. However private lessons don't guarantee your child will play collegiate or professional baseball.

What is the difference between private and semi-private baseball lessons?

In a private baseball lesson, the athlete trains one-on-one with an instructor who tailors the lesson specifically to their needs and skill level. In a semi-private lesson, two athletes work together with one instructor. Semi-private lessons, also called partner lessons, typically cost 10% to 20% less than private lessons. However, because the trainer's attention is divided between the two athletes, the athletes don't get the same level of individualized instruction as they would in a private lesson.

What age should you start pitching lessons?

Baseball instructors generally recommend that children start pitching lessons at around 8 to 12 years old, though there are no age requirements or exact rules. Learning fundamental pitching skills early on can help your child avoid developing bad habits that will be difficult for them to break later.

However, your child should not start taking pitching lessons until they are comfortable throwing the ball as well as catching the ball one-handed.
