Karen H. says, "In August, 2012, under Patrick’s guidance, I returned to piano study after a hiatus of 10 years. With infinite patience and great sense of humor, Patrick helped me rebuild my technique, expand my repertoire and regain my confidence as a pianist. As an educator myself, I can attest to the fact that Patrick has an excellent understanding of adult learners and their particular needs. I recommend him highly!" Read more

Keanu A. says, "Freddy's qualifications as an instructor are readily apparent in his lessons. His mastery over both Spanish and English and his knowledge about the history regarding the regions in which these languages are spoken did so much to reinforce the foundational concepts of Spanish he taught me, making the more intermediate content we explored more accessible as we moved on each week." Sandy D. says, "When I found Erica on LinkedIn, I just connected to her because I liked what she did with her business. I saw business acumen and a love of pianos. On LinkedIn I like to collect people who reflect my values and Erica certainly does that. I’ve had piano lessons before. Started and stopped maybe 4, 5 or 6 times before with different teachers. They were nice, but most of them didn’t click with me. I finally tried working with a music therapist a few years ago because of cognitive difficulties due to Multiple Sclerosis. We definitely clicked but wouldn’t you know insurance doesn’t cover music therapy? After paying a fair but unsustainable amount of cash over a few months, I had to terminate. There went my dream of learning to play piano. Years go by and along comes Erica. I didn’t tell her about my MS. In my first lesson, I actually cried. For the first time in years, I was sitting at the piano and then re-learning the piano in a new way. Here I found someone finally, who gets me. Her method of teaching was unusually simple. And she was very patient with me. I made music. When I told her about my MS she started crying because she told me that her method was meant to work with the disabled! Why shouldn’t disabled people have the joy of playing piano like other people? MS is an invisible illness that breaks down the nervous system. It can’t be seen unless one is in a wheel chair. Neurological disorders can’t be seen. But when I tell you something insight me lit up…I can’t explain it. Was it my brain making new neuronal connections or was it my spirit on fire…? I don’t know. Did it create healing and reignite my hope of making music? Yes it did. If you have an opportunity to take piano lessons from Erica do it. If you can learn her methods and pass them on to others, learn them. You may create a drastic impact on someone. Erica’s warmth and method of teaching had that impact on me. " Read more

Jennie F. says, "I had never touched a guitar in my life before. So I was an absolute beginner. I am so glad that I found Dylan as my first teacher. He was friendly and patient, also with robust knowledge. We started learning lessons in early March. He walked me through every fundamental stuff and basic knowledge of music theory. I started from scratch then I'm able to read the music sheet and play a couple of songs that I like by myself right now. Every week he showed up on time. And he helped me extract sheet music from YouTube music videos. Dylan's lessons really helped me progress quite well with my beginner level. I would say I could have spent much much more time to achieve where I am without him. I wanna thank Dylan for being inspiring and encouraging on my guitar learning pathway. I would recommend Dylan to anyone who wants to play guitar regardless of age or skill level." Read more

Mack says, "I took the SAT and the ACT to ensure I did not make the wrong choice. It was a lot of work, definitely. However, I turned to this guy -- Dan -- for both. He worked with me, creating stuff for me, and individualizing everything for me. I had a previous tutor who basically walked me through some of Khan Academy, and threw practice questions at me with little basis. And it was obvious she had just done this with everyone before me. Dan is like no other tutor, maybe even person, you'll find. Work with him, invest the effort, follow his lead, and you will thrive." Read more

Reviews for Elizabeth composition lessons

Recent success stories from people in the Elizabeth area.

As a theory teacher, Patrick Kreeger possesses the exact teaching style the subject requires. Patience, availability for questions and dedication to my desire to learn best define my experience with Patrick. It was such dedication that also made him call me out when he didn’t think I was doing my best or was making careless mistakes. Perhaps this wouldn’t be that outstanding except that Patrick did all of this long distance; he was in Philadelphia and I was in Delaware. He was timely in mailing me assignments and tests, and even more so in grading and returning them. I learned more from him in the 2 years I studied with him than I did in my last year of theory in my undergrad at music school. If you have the opportunity to study with Patrick Kreeger, consider yourself lucky. You couldn’t find better quality teaching elsewhere.”

I came to Keith for help with my tendency to tighten up so much I could produce a note. He focuses on proper physical management of one's vocal instrument (body) to produce beautiful sound without strain. I now enjoy singing again and have improved my range as well as surprised myself with the quality of sound I can now produce. Keith is very supporting, full of praise, and a pleasure to work with.

"I have been playing the piano from an early age, but it has been many years since I took formal lessons. I have always wished to become an advanced pianist, but realized I needed professional instruction to guide me on my journey. I then found Erica. I am delighted to say that, in a few short months, my expectations have not only been met but far exceeded. I am now competently playing a Chopin Etude which has long been a particular go of mine. My progress is in large part due to Erica's talent and dedication as a pianist and teacher. And, although she holds me to the highest possible standards, bour lessons are ALWAYS chock full of laughter and camaraderie. Any serious piano student would be lucky to have Erica as an instructor, as am I.

I have taken 3 lessons with Dylan so far and I am really enjoying them. He is very good at picking up on what level I am at and how to push me without being harsh. He makes sure I am playing correctly before moving on and gives good practice exercises. It's a lot of fun to learn with Dylan and he takes the time to really look and listen to me playing and provide feedback which is the whole point of one on one lessons. He is very knowledgeable about music and very humble. He handwrites the tabs for lessons which is totally awesome. Looking forward to keep learning from him.

So easy to work with. Gives you his all and more and never stops until you completely understand. 3 months of LSAT with him and went from 149 to 166! Probably the best tutor out there.

I have been getting guitar lessons with Bryan for over two years. As a forty something year old, who can be very stuck in his ways, Bryan has been abundantly patient with my slow learning process. He is thoroughly knowledgable of the guitar, adapts to my learning curve, finds real life examples that helps move me along in the right direction. So very thankful I decided to go with Bryan as my teacher. He does the music world good simply being the kind of teacher he is.

As a music educator and professional musician myself for over 35 years, I can say unequivocally that Edward Green is the finest composition teacher I have ever known. His knowledge of music is deep and encyclopedic, spanning the Western tradition as well as the diverse cultures of the world. Most importantly, through his use of the Aesthetic Realism Teaching Method, he is able to encourage the best in his students. As I have seen in classes with him at the Manhattan School of Music and the Aesthetic Realism Foundation, and in private lessons, and have seen, too, in my own career as a music teacher, this method enables a student’s musical expression to flourish. There isn’t a day goes by that I don’t think of and benefit from what I’ve learned from Dr. Green.
