I have been teaching for over 10 years. I teach privately full-time and run my own company. I personally hire other enthusiastic and experienced music teachers to work with me. I believe learning music should be fun. While it also takes hard work and dedication, a student must first enjoy music in order to continue and progress. My teachers and I incorporate well-known songs into lessons so that students can relate to what they are learning. We also use many of our own games and worksheets to keep students engaged at all times. We offer many different types of lessons including voice, piano, guitar, and songwriting.  ... View Profile

My name is Shavit Prince. I am a musician, composer, singer, graduated from The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in NY. I started teaching music- voice, reading (solfage), ear-training and the Connection between a song and the singer, when I was 16. I was working in a conservatory and every year or every few month, I had a group of young girls (years 11-18). They came to class together or alone and we worked on what they needed at the time. A few needed help of how to reach a song and how to connect to it, some of them didn't know how to read music notes and needed me to work with them on the music background, some of them wanted to ... I aim to teach you skills that you can utilize daily at home, with our weekly lesson checking in and building on that. We will work with healing any specific concerns and building an internal physical and mental strength that will go on to serve your daily life. I have a shared s ... View Profile

I have over 40 years of experience as a teacher, with 26 years as a staff instructor at New York's American Institute of Guitar. Whether it's classical, pop, folk, blues, or song arranging, I focus on drawing a beautiful sound from the instrument. In teaching theory, I emphasize how harmonic relationships have evolved from the natural laws of sound. I performed nightly at Windows on the World (atop the former World Trade Center) for 12 years, and I have two solo CDs out. My song arrangements are published by Mel Bay, and I have written on music for The New York Times, Acoustic Guitar, and other publications; I'm also on the Board of Directors ... View Profile

I’ve been a piano student for many years in my life. I studied with allot of teachers. Some were good and some less. Through the years I’ve understood what can I take from each teacher and I developed a method of how to teach and how to learn. Of course my goal is to see my students grow and see how do they develop. But my main goal is to make my students become their own teachers, a skill which most teachers are afraid to talk about. I've been teaching from the age of 15 for more than 10 years. I’m a professional piano player with a music B.A degree from “The New School for Jazz Studies”.   ... View Profile

Too often piano lessons are spoiled by overemphasis on repetitive exercise and etudes. This approach is antiquated and usually ineffective. In my studio learning and refining music is always the priority. Different tools, such a vocalization and outlining often help my students make vast technical leaps without ever having to spend hours strengthening their fingers. Sometimes an exercise is appropriate, to isolate one difficulty can save time. But music is of the ears, not the hands, so that is always where we begin.  I am Juilliard trained and an experienced performer. I've had extensive study with teachers of different philosophies, an ... View Profile
