About
I am a mom, a teacher, a performer, and an activist. I embrace each role with pride.
As a performer, I have led audiences across the diverse terrain of human nature. As an activist, I have marched against social and economic injustice. As a teacher, I have engaged students in deep inquiry and exploration. As a mom, I have an unshakable need to pass it on.
I believe completely in the healing power of the theater. Creating a multidimensional character requires a level of reflection, self-observation and awareness that everyone can use in their daily life regardless of profession, beliefs, political affiliation, race, or gender. Theater has the power to teach empathy. It can be the catalyst for important conversations. It has always felt like the perfect vehicle for teaching.
Ten years as a classroom teacher afforded me many opportunities to develop a sustainable teaching practice. Passionate about learning and the arts, I naturally sought to merge the two in my profession. I found that my students benefitted tremendously, academically and personally, from the role plays and simulations done in my classroom. I shared my findings with colleagues and discovered an interest from educators to do the same.
It is now the cornerstone of my work. I provide opportunities for young people, women, and people of color to express themselves, experience transformation, and feel empowered to act.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Congratualtions on making a commitment to your own creativity! My advice is that you indulge in dreaming big. Don't limit yourself into how others view you or how you traditionally view yourself. Be bold, and honest, about what you want to get out of this journey.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
In those moments where no one is watching, what do you want for yourself?
