I specialize in high school and college level math. I have taught math in the classroom at the college level for many years, but I have always preferred to one-on-one personal mentoring of students with private tutoring sessions. I have coached thousands of students, yound and old, over the years to maximize their performance in math courses, learn what was necessary, and feel good about their accomplishment.
I participated in the writing of a study guide for Calculus by James Stewart, one of the most widely used calculus and pre-calculus textbooks in colleges today. In addition to this text, I have recently worked cl

Hi! I have been tutoring math for about 4-5 years in subjects from Pre-algebra to Trigonometry to SAT and GRE. I've tutored for a variety of companies, including Champion Learning Center, Mathnasium, and freelance.
I generally spend the first few sessions trying to get a sense of the student's strengths and weaknesses, so that I can tailor my instruction to them. We can go through the student's homework, look through practice questions for standardized tests, or go back to the fundamentals.

Luis Freire is a Rutgers University alumnus. Luis mentors composition on an academic level as a prerequisite to advanced study, career objective, or professional development.
I have been a full-time math tutor for 35 years on Staten Island. While I have taught some math courses in schools and summer programs, the overwhelming bulk of my experience is one-to-one math tutoring.
I enjoy tutoring very much, and teach with a smile and humor, as well as with expertise. I help struggling students as well as those who want to get from 90% to 100%.
High school and college entrance tests are my favorite type of work, but I also do a lot of regular course work. The lessons are given at my home in New Dorp.
Please call me to discuss your particular situation and how I might be able to help you.
