Kristy Solan Yoga Lessons
About
I have been practicing various types of yoga (Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Restorative) for the last 15 years. I have practiced and studied with numerous teachers at a variety of studios and gyms. I am a 200 hour RYT from Shiva Shanti Yoga School. I incorporate vinyasa and alignment into my sequencing; allowing my students to be creative and safe in their practice. Achieving physical and mental strength through asana and yoga teachings is my goal. Dharma talk and having a focus of the class helps students to create an intention to manifest their energy.
I enjoy learning from my students and fellow instructors. I am constantly looking to further my learning through research, practice, and other teachers.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student, I initially would ask if the student has any injuries and their experience with yoga. This will help me to make any certain modifications for that class and be aware of the student's needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a full time grammar school teacher for the last 14 years. I have completed my 200 RYT training. Being a school teacher enables me to show empathy and compassion towards my students and their needs. It also helps me to interact and understand that all students learn differently, and I must modify and accomodate accordingly.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Standard pricing will be made at request.
How did you get started teaching?
I have practiced yoga for the last 12 years, as well as been a school teacher for 14 years. I felt it was the right time and I was able to dedicate my time to the required training. I had been yearning for more yoga teachings and wisdom to incorporate into my life and practice.
What types of students have you worked with?
I am a new yoga instructor who is continuing to develop my teaching and practice. I have worked with students at a mixed and beginner level. Most students had been familiar with the practice, while others were fairly new to yoga.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently graduated from Shiva Shanti Yoga School with my 200 hr RYT. It was an amazing journey getting to that place and couldn't have been more proud and honored. It was a beautiful ceremony and each of the graduates had the opportunity to do something in front of the audience (ie. teach Surya Namaskar). It was a day I will carry in my heart always.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
For a student looking to hire a teacher, I would advise choosing one who seems to show empathy/compassion for others. This will help the teacher better understand the needs of his/her students to be a great instructor. A teacher who challenges his/her students in a safe environment and way is necessary for a wonderful practice.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should think about their needs, reasons for wanting yoga lessons, what brought them to the mat, and their goals for moving forward.
