Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I will usually meet with a client or student over the phone first to make sure we are a good match, based on their needs & my expertise. Then, for yoga, we generally work together for 3-5-10 classes & with coaching clients it is usually a package of sessions -normally 6-12. Most of my clients work with me from 90 days- 6 months, depending on what changes they are looking to make. I also do some intensive shorter sessions , 1hr, 90 mins, 2hrs up to 6hrs or a full day intensive session. It all depends on their goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a Certified, Professional Level, Kripalu Yoga Teacher ERYT500. I am also a Divine Living Certified Transformational Coach. I am the Director of Teacher Training & Certification at Shine Yoga Center, a 200HR Registered Yoga Schoo. I have more than 20 years of experience working with clients as a holistic lifestyle, health living & transformation professional.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
This is discussed when I speak to the potential client.
How did you get started teaching?
I was working a corporate job and very stressed out. Got myself to a yoga class and immediately knew this was my calling.
What types of students have you worked with?
All levels, Pre-natal, Restorative.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure you are not shopping just by price. You want a well trained, certified, registered instructor, with teaching experience, who walks their talk and understands that not every body can do every pose. You want them to be able to offer safe modifications.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What do you want from your practice? Goals? Why do you want to practice yoga? meditation? How often do you want to practice? Do you have any injuries? Spinal Issues, Medical conditions, or other special needs or concerns? Are you pregnant? Are you battling mental or emotional issues? Do you have any physical limitations? How active are you in your life now? etc... Also what questions do you have for the teacher?
