Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I would like to introduce myself and talk about my background as it pertains to What you want to learn. Depending on your level of commitment, I can suggest a project. Then I go over the project generally. I might have the steps organized in writing to use as a guide. We explore time frames and deadlines. If you agree and want to go forward, we can start. I will demonstrate. As the student moves forward we will talk about the process and take it step by step until completed .
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I began sewing when I was 4 years old, learning from my grandparents who worked in factories. I made my first garments which I wore to school pictures in grade 5. I’ve been sewing ever since for University costume shops and The ILGWU in New York City sewing for Broadway and film. I am a studio painter most recently painting a 75 foot painting in the Great Falls National Historical Park. I learned much of what I know by working in theater at Villanova.
