I enjoy helping people learn to sew for themselves. Not listed in the group of classes is spinning yarn. I have drop spindles and spinning wheels on which to teach. I have taught sewing at 2 senior centers in the Bronx for New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA)--'Soundview and Highbridge Gardens. I had a McCall pattern with my name on it. I have done six seasons of New York Fashion Week. My website is www.twainstwines.com; it is about to undergo renovation. I have taught sewing privately to children and adults. I have references upon request.

With the completion of each project, my students go forward to a more difficult project. The students can see their progress. Each time we finished a project, the students invite more people to join the group.

I have known Twain as a college roommate and friend for almost two decades. She is both Godly gifted and naturally talented in the area of fashion design unlike any other. Her competition is only herself! She can do commercial fashion designs as well as spin hair from her rabbit, dye it and make clothes, mud cloth coats,wine bottle carriers, etc. Twain also is a fantastic teacher and educator, bar none, to illustrate on her spinning wheel, from the rabbit hair to the final yarn for use. Both children and adults are forever changed when watching the process. She also has made numerous one of a kind outfits for me and for my daughter who is an entertainer in LA. Her creativity knows no bounds and her patience is phenomenal. As I said, Twain is ONE-OF-A-KIND !!!! Twain is a real find in NYC. Where do you find a master tailor who is a designer, so committed to the quality of her work that she raises pet rabbits for their angora! Her creations are beautiful and yet so so wearable. And you dont have to have a fortune to look like one. And I know from first hand experience that she is a gifted teach. Like a said, a true find in the City.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I like to start with teaching how to purchase fabric and patterns. Second lesson we sew the garment. The length of the second class is 2-3 hours. At the end of this class, the garment--a pair of pants or a top or a skirt is a finished garment ready to wear.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

As my label, Twain's Twines, I have completed 25 weddings and many special occasion clothing for men and women. As a designer, I have participated in six seasons of New York Fashion Week. I had a McCall pattern with my name on it. I have angora rabbits whose hair I spin into yarn and knit angora sweaters.
