Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I have them play their favorite piece for up to four minutes.
We discuss their past experience playing and what their goals are- as well as how much time they can devote to playing. I ask them what kind of music do they like and want to learn.
I give them a general plan of how we will proceed with room for questions.
We begin to implement the plan with a practice schedule.
The ultimate goal is to learn a piece they feel comfortable performing.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been teaching for many many years in many types of school settings as well as privately. I have had all types of students who are seeking different things- and have different goals. I cater to the learning needs of each student.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I usually charge $60-$70.00 per lesson for an hour lesson. I am flexible about price- I can also be flexible about length of lesson... as well as price I provide discounts if two months are booked in advance. I usually have a 24 cancellation rule- I need to know in advance if they can't make a lesson.
