How did you get started teaching?
I got my Masters degreee in Communications Sciences and Disorders from Hofstra University in 2007 and I have been working with students of all ages ever since. I took a specialized training on Accent Reduction and have been seeing clients through the computer for several years now.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students from age 8 months to 99 years old (She was the sweetest woman!)
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am fond of the last session I had with a client recently where she told me how much I have helped her with her accent and English grammar over the past year. It made my eyes start to tear that I was able to help someone so much in their life!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would say hire who you feel comfortable with. If you're looking for a very friendly, funny and outgoing therapist than I'm your gal. :)
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
They should think about their ability to be their word. If you say you're going to be there at a certain time then be there. I know as a therapist it really upsets me when people don't show up to their appointments and don't give any warning or cancellation notice. I try very hard to be my word everyday!!! It's sometimes the best we can do!!
