Ciara Kosior Art Tutoring

Hi! I'm an art tutor with over two years of tutoring experience and eleven years of professional design experience. I earned a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design and studied for a Master of Architecture at Yale University in 2020. I love using my academic, art, and design experience to help my students improve their drawing, painting, and sculpting skills. I craft my lessons to build upon my student's unique personal interests and goals. I teach all ages, and specialize in helping students prepare portfolios for art school applications. I focus on helping to build a strong foundation of skills, especially drawing from life. I’m passionate about sharing my skills and knowledge with my students and seeing their confidence grow!

Life Drawing and Painting Program: Using charcoal, graphite, inks, conté and more, you will progress from drawing simple still life arrangements to drawing the people and places of your choice with confidence. We will progress to color theory and painting with acrylics, oils, or watercolor, all tailored to your prior experience and artistic goals!

Art School Application Program: Highly personalized to your teen's needs! I guide your student through the whole art school application process. We will work together on skill-based art lessons, building up their portfolio, emailing admissions, tracking deadlines, photo editing, portfolio layouts, and arts-specific application essay writing. Students who need less technical skill-building will receive "desk-crit"-style feedback and coaching on their projects and intriguing, challenging assignments: real assignments taught at RISD, Cooper, MICA etc. Prep for the Cooper Home Test, the RISD portfolio and other top art college applications! My students have been accepted to RISD, MICA, SAIC, SVA, and more! My teen students develop their writing, self-expression, artistic concepts, and technical art skills with me; all while building their confidence.

Spring and Summer Sessions: I will create a custom-tailored program to aid your student in maintaining and deepening their artistic practice and skills in preparation for intensive Pre-College programs or the first semester of college. We will work together to improve their skills and expand their conceptual abilities. I help my students prepare the technical and the conceptual thinking skills required of them at top art schools so they can feel prepared and excited at every step of their artistic journey.

I offer a 1 hour trial lesson at 50% off! In my trial lesson, we will review your goals and existing artwork and then work on a drawing lesson tailored to your needs.
