About
Hi! My name is Abe. I've been teaching chess for over 6 years. I'm rated 1902 USCF and I give chess lessons both in-person and online. I'm extremely beneficial for players in the beginner-intermediate stage, and also to advanced players up to around 1900 (I also enjoy teaching the variant of chess 960!). I give fun, engaging lessons in intelligent, yet simple, fluent English. Please feel free to message me or email me ([email protected]) about times and my rates. Thank you and looking forward to playing with you!
Just interacting with humans and seeing the different ways their minds think and how they perceive the chessboard - and the world - is very interesting to me. I also enjoy seeing how people really appreciate chess, and how they can get surprised by certain things on a chessboard that they didn't see or realize before. It's kind of like magic tricks, in a way, and is very fun to engage in.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I used to use "templates" for teaching students, and it was very orderly, but I realized it was robotic. Everyone is so unique, that I no longer believe in a "one-size-fits-all" template. Rather, I utilize free-flowing lessons by spending time with my students, interacting with them, listening to their questions, and then tailoring the classes to fit their level.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with students from 5 years old all the way to 75 years old! They're all so unique and I enjoy working with each one and personalizing lessons for them.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Becoming a realtor. I enjoy chess and realty has lots of moving pieces just like a chess game.
