Chess Katz
About
We understand that being good at chess is important but knowing how to teach chess is critical. That is why our instructors are both accomplished players as well as experienced teachers and coaches. They understand the challenges of childhood learning and incorporate elements of Mindfulness and a Growth Mindset approach to their teaching..
I love when everything finally clicks for the student. They have that "aha!" moment and it starts to show in the quality of games they play.
I have a true passion for teaching chess and sharing that passion with students is priceless

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I typically ask them to send me several of the student's recent chess games so I can review them in advance of the lesson. I then develop a plan of study and custom tailor a curriculum for the student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Master's degree in Education and am licensed by New York State to teach. I have also been teaching chess for over 15 years and have taught over 10,000 students how to play at the city, state and national level
