Hi, I'm Joshua Pantoja, Horn Professor at the Puerto Rico Music Conservatory and Horn Player for the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra.
I focus on the basic techniques of the Horn, a healthy sound, flexibility, the difference ranges, Etudes, Excerpts and Concertos also I work on Jazz and Improvisation on the Horn.
I enjoy inspiring the students, finding their own sound, developing their creativity and to see their improvement from one lesson to the next.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First I like to get to know the student, then we talk about his or her goals and expectations from the class. We make a working plan depending on the level of each student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Master's Degree on Orchestral Performance from Manhattan School of Music and a Bachelor's Degree in Music from The Juilliard School.

$60 for an hour lesson.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching piano in a community art school around fifteen years ago. After that I began teaching French Horn at the pre-college división at the Puerto Rico Music Conservatory. I have have been teaching at the College level about 7 years.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have work with students from ages 5 to 60 years old. I have teach professional musicians, college students, amateurs players in groups and individually. I have also done private piano and guitar lessons with kids with autism.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for someone that will understand your needs as a Horn Player and that will give you the tools to reach your goals as an artist.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
The student should ask himself what are my aspirations as a musician and where does he/she sees himself in the future.
