Leslie S. says, "Andrew is an excellent teacher. He teaches my daughter clarinet and he is very patient and kind but also meticulous and pays attention to details in her performance that they then work on. He is reliable and truly seems to love music and teaching music to children. We are lucky to have found him." Read more

Maia S. says, "He's a great teacher: encouraging, but also knows when and how to critique and not discourage a beginner. Makes sure it is challenging, but not overwhelming. Encyclopedic knowledge of jazz and music theory. Definitely recommend!" Read more

I am a retired NYC public school music teacher, with 35 years experience. I teach all ages and abilities. I specialize in prepping students for auditions to Magnet schools, NYC Arts high schools and college auditions. Music lessons are held in my studio on Saturdays in the Ft. Greene/Clinton Hill section of Brooklyn. I hold a BFA from Long island University in Jazz Performance on Trombone. I hold a Master of Arts from Brooklyn College Conservatory in Secondary Education. I love music and I love teaching other people how to play and sing so they can love it too. No matter how young or how old you are, everyone can learn to play an instrument ...

Noah R. says, "I've had a lot of music teachers and saxophone teachers that all tried to get me to play the way they wanted me to play, and I've hated it. What's great about Jim is that he really allows you to play like yourself and he just facilitates that and acts as a catalyst. He also plays with a lot of top tier musicians in NYC so you know the information you get is coming straight from the source. I would credit Jim a lot with where I'm at as a musician and with my acceptance into the programs I'm in. P.S. Jim actually practices what he preaches. If you want a great teacher, learn from the guy who does the thing you want to do." Read more

Lessons from someone with decades of real world musical experience, and a masters in teaching music. It's all notes. I've worked with everyone from P Diddy to Jimmy Dean. Hearing a student play something differently than how I would play it is an indescribable joy.

The son of two music teachers, I have been immersed in music, first violin, then piano, and finally trombone, since the age of 7. I fell in love with jazz, especially Dixieland, Louis Armstrong, Jack Teagarden, through Miles Davis, JJ Johnson and beyond, when I was a teenager, but ultimately my main focus has been on Classical music for most of my career. I attended Juilliard Pre-College, Manhattan School of Music and the Juilliard School, where I studied with the top trombonists in the classical orchestral field, and I now perform with some of the top orchestras in New York City, including the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera, America...

Hello! My approach to teaching includes a collaboration of my students' interest with fundamental pedagogy. I work with my students to pinpoint their goals as well as overall motivations in music. The students' interests drive their long term lesson plans in addition to week by week structure. My passion for teaching came from the beginning of my playing career when I began helping younger students while I was in high school. I love drawing out inspiration from my students and igniting that spark to make music for others. I earned my Bachelors in Music Education where I continued on to teach in public schools across Texas, Maryland, and

Welcome! My student teaching focuses a lot more on the student rather than the method. I do believe in versatility and every student should have his own plan. After graduating from Manhattan School of Music in May 2023, I've taught part-time both in person and online and the results have been very promising. I take the biggest joy out of this work and it would be an absolute pleasure to work with you!

Andrew is great! My son is brand new to music and the clarinet. Andrew keeps him engaged for their virtual lesson and my son is catching on quickly and he loves his lessons.

I am a graduate from Berklee school of music with a master in jazz studies. I studied music in an academic setting my entire life. But then, I discovered that I was thought the fast way. The way to just get a gig. I then through a friend discovered joe Solomon. Joe’s teaching is the way to internalize the language of music. It’s the way to have a voice and a vocabulary. Not only to get a gig but to feel and experience music. Joe changed my way of seen music forever. He is an amazing musician as well as an amazing human been. If you are serious about Music you must have lessons with Mr. Solomon. He will change your life.

Dave is one of the most professional and knowledgeable teachers I have ever had. He was able to break me out of the rut I was in and get me to look at the fretboard completely differently. He taught complex theory concepts ( at least complex to me) extremely patiently and thoroughly. Weekly lessons always felt personalized, Dave was always prepared for each virtual lesson with a specific concept to teach that was geared toward me and my playing. Thank you for everything Dave! I hope to be able to return soon.

I like how Matt insists on slowing everything down to really get a good understanding of notes, rythem, etc. He is a very fun person and knows a LOT about music. Matt is a super supportive instructor!
