I’ve been teaching violin for 7 years, mostly children ages 5-17. I have a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree from The Juilliard School, and have been teaching at Opus 118 Harlem School and New Amsterdam School in NYC, and at Luzerne Music Center in upstate NY during the summers.

I took private lessons with several teachers over the years, and Katherine is by far the best violin teacher Ive ever had. She is patient and supportive, yet also knows how to push students to be better and bring out the best in them. She is amazing at working with me to set both short- and long-term goals, is flexible and always available for help - whether thats a text/email for a quick question or feedback on audio recordings when shes out of town, etc. Shes such an accomplished violinist on her own right, its always inspiring to hear her play and see her push herself further both in performance and teaching. Katherine has my highest recommendation for anyone at any age, time commitment or skill level.

For the last two years Katherine has been a fantastic violin teacher. She is very professional, she cares about her students, she makes classes fun and she makes you love violin even if, like me, you are not very talented. As and adult student, I really appreciate her flexibility and her comprehension of my situation as a working person. She always does her best at every class and thanks to that I really enjoy what I do. I could not think of a better teacher and I strongly recommend her, specially if you are an adult that need to walk at your own pace and and if you are looking for a passionate, patience and kind person to guide you through it.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

As a Juilliard-trained violinist, I worked with some of the best musicians in the US, and learned their teaching methods. On top of the Juilliard experience, I was trained as a teaching intern at Opus 118 Harlem School of Music, worked and observed with extremely experienced teachers in the field.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

If you are travelling to my home for lessons, $80/hour.

If I am travelling to your home for lessons, $100/hour.

Online lessons, $80/hour.

What types of students have you worked with?

I've worked with mostly young beginner students, ages 5 - 18. However, I also have been working with adult amateur violinists, one of whom is in an amateur orchestra in the Upper West Side. I've also been teaching chamber music and sight-reading skills to a 7-year-old composer/pianist.
