Richard D. Engle Guitar Instruction
About
I have taught hundreds of people how to play guitar from the ground up, or improve their existing skills. My lesson plans are developed around YOU, because it is not about ME. We now have a wealth of online resources, and this is a great thing, but one problem I am hearing is about information overload. Even in online lessons, it can sometimes be difficult to preserve the human element. If you are in the Greater Rochester NY area and are interested in beginning or enhancing your playing, contact me, and let's see if I can help you out, I usually can. I teach 1 hr. lessons, and can work on flexible schedules and even short-term projects, if need be. I have other related skills wrapped around the guitar teaching as well (repairs, setup, recording, music theory, etc.). My page is also easily accessible on facebook under the same name, I have some content there that might be helpful. I would be proud to be your safari guide! :)

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My process is to quickly find out what is relevant to the student's specific goals about playing, and organize my curriculum around that. This is key. Also, people have different learning styles, so my lessons are tailored to account for that as well. If it is a beginner, it is very important for them to realize that music is BIG, and to not let anything overwhelm them. I try to make them comfortable, and have obtainable things to work on.
