About
Nannette Wasserman, (RYT 200)
Nannette has practiced yoga and meditation for over thirty years. As a teenager, long before yoga was popular, Nannette joined her artist mother in yoga and meditation classes. Together they studied Iyengar and much later, ISHTA yoga. Nannette received her certification in Hatha yoga through Yoga With Intention and is a Registered Yoga Teacher with nationally recognized Yoga Alliance. Her teachings focus on building flexibility and strength within the proper alignment while cultivating an open heart. Nannette consistently provides modifications as well as progressions for each asana so that all students, from beginners to advanced, are able to find their edge and breathe fully and deeply while moving through the poses.
Nannette is trained in HeartMath, a practice of mindfulness and energy management which builds personal resilience. Resilience may be thought of as "the capacity to prepare for, recover from and adapt to stress, challenge, or adversity." Nannette enthusiastically shares her HeartMath practice with her students as it is a tangible way to take their yoga off the mat and into their daily lives.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I ask the student if s/he has any injuries, pain, or physical limitations that I should be aware of so that I may make modifications from the start. My number one priority is keeping the student safe from injury. Then, we discuss the student's fitness goals (increasing flexibility, improving strength and stability, calming the mind and central nervous system, improving core strength and muscle tone, learning to meditate, lowering heart rate, blood pressure, increasing lung capabity and the quality of the breath). Next, I explain the format of the private session or class and then we begin by setting an intention for the current practice.
