About

With 16 years of experience as a general and special education teacher/tutor for grades K-H.S., my greatest joy is seeing my students improve their self-confidence and self-advocacy skills, reach their highest potential, and achieve academic success!

I hold a master's degree in elementary education from the University of Bridgeport, CT, and also completed a Connecticut state certification program in special education. My undergraduate degree is in theater arts from Pennsylvania State University. My dramatic background has helped me engage my students in various creative and fun ways -- such as making and using puppets, acting out stories, social scenarios, and even math problems!

I have been trained in the use of the Orton-Gillingham multi-sensory method of teaching reading and I integrate other reading methodologies depending on each child's needs.

Emphasis is on the five pillars of reading instruction, also known as the five pillars of early literacy, a set of key components developed by the National Reading Panel essential for reading proficiency. These pillars include phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension.

Additionally, I teach math through pre-algebra and can support other academic areas such as writing, science, social studies, and French.

I am available late afternoons, early evenings, and weekends in person or remotely.

Please feel free to contact me for a FREE question and answer session.
