About
I have developed a method that allows me to teach you what you want to learn. My approach is tailored to your particular learning style.
I was never a "natural musician". I worked hard to develop my skills and my career. That's what makes me a good teacher. It never came easy to me so I understand the challenges and the fantastic feeling of achievement.
I have a B.A. in Music Ed. from Miami University and studied guitar at Cincinnati Conservatory of Music
I have performed around the globe from Prague to Juneau and from Hawaii to Rhode Island.
I am a contributing force in the thriving music scene in Portland, Or.
I’ve been teaching for more than 25 years and developed innovative curriculums for Artichoke Music School. A nonprofit school reaching at-risk youth in Portland, Or. I offer group classes as well as individual instruction.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My students work with me to make lessons fun and motivating. Most people want to make music because it's enjoyable. However, we all know that some of the work isn't all that fun. I help people decide what is worth the time to meet their goals. I offer inspiration to get through the hard stuff.

I studied guitar at Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and earned a BA in Music Education from Miami University. I have been teaching for more than 30 years.
How did you get started teaching?
I had a few questionable teachers as a young music student. I was sure I could do a better job. Teaching turned into my passion.
