Jeremy is a skilled teacher able to adapt to the needs of my child. My son is naturally quick to pick up things and appears easy going so is often pushed a bit by teachers which causes him to not want to take class. Jeremy is able to move forward and pull back as he senses my son needs. It has been a great experience for us and I would highly recommend him.

Jeremy has been teaching our daughter drums for four years and has always met her where her interests are while still challenging her and keeping her engaged. Our daughter is always so happy after having a drum lesson with Jeremy. He communicates very well and is willing to work with our schedule if something comes up. We are very happy with Jeremy as a music teacher and would highly recommend him.

My daughter has been taking drum lessons with Jeremy for a few years and hes been great!
She started training with Jeremy when she was 7 and had no prior music experience but hes had no problem teaching her how to play drums. Hes also good about making sure to keep us in the loop with the training, equipment, expectations, etc.
Her skills as a drummer and overall musician constantly impress me whether shes drumming to a new song she heard on the radio or reading sheet music, its cool to experience.
Jeremy is kind, patient, encouraging, and great with kids. Hes very easy to talk to and is just genuinely a nice guy. I couldnt recommend him more.

    Frequently asked questions

Note: I am only available for in-home lessons with students who live in SE Pdx (South of Powell). To start, a meet and greet is arranged to make sure that the student and teacher are a good fit. As far as method, I find out where the student is musically and give them songs that are easily achievable with steady practice. This confidence boost sets the stage for a challenge.

Students should expect to play a wide range of music from classical to jazz, rock n roll to folk and more. Each lesson offers performance, theory and technique.

I began taking private music lessons at age four. I had a good teacher! I was able to grasp the concepts of reading and using my ear pretty quickly.

I went on to get my masters in music performance from the Univ of Arizona (2003). I also attended many notable music summer programs such as the Leigh Howard Stevens summer intensive, and the Ed Soph Jazz Emporium (two times).

I have worked as a dance accompanist (piano and percussion) at the American Dance Festival and Interlochen Summer Arts Camp. Recently, I can be seen performing with Speak of the Sun, a Portland based rock band. Check us out on YouTube.
