About
Hello, I am Jeremy Nasta. I am a masters degree musician, performer and teacher. I teach piano, guitar, drums and bass. I teach in your home or mine. Students learn to read, improvise, compose and perform. Students work within my tailored method which keeps the lessons fun and disciplined at the same time.
I have been teaching private lessons full time since 2008. I love to teach and it shows!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Note: I am only available for in-home lessons with students who live in SE Pdx (South of Powell). To start, a meet and greet is arranged to make sure that the student and teacher are a good fit. As far as method, I find out where the student is musically and give them songs that are easily achievable with steady practice. This confidence boost sets the stage for a challenge.
Students should expect to play a wide range of music from classical to jazz, rock n roll to folk and more. Each lesson offers performance, theory and technique.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I began taking private music lessons at age four. I had a good teacher! I was able to grasp the concepts of reading and using my ear pretty quickly.
I went on to get my masters in music performance from the Univ of Arizona (2003). I also attended many notable music summer programs such as the Leigh Howard Stevens summer intensive, and the Ed Soph Jazz Emporium (two times).
I have worked as a dance accompanist (piano and percussion) at the American Dance Festival and Interlochen Summer Arts Camp. Recently, I can be seen performing with Speak of the Sun, a Portland based rock band. Check us out on YouTube.
