A little bit about me. It all began when my parents met in art school and soon were married. If you years later I was born into a life of never ending exploration in the arts and crafts that filled my world! In high school I receive the word for most artistic and also won a national competition to create a poster for endangered species.
I enrolled in college and got my degree in fine arts and early childhood education. At the time there was not a gallery on campus for artists to display their work and I lead a movement to get one started. It was named "The Other gallery" and was managed and taken care of by the students.
I Got married and started a family and worked out of my studio set on my farm in the beautiful wine country. I taught Art out of my studio for many years and participated in some local art walks and displayed my work in local calories. I also made guest appearances in local schools teaching art as well.I had several write ups in the local paper and was a guest on some local talk shows in the area.
I moved closer to the city to continue my education while still teaching art more on a one on one bases or in workshops I put together. This day and age Art is more important than ever! A creative way to move energy through your body and express it on paper or canvas. It is an excellent type of therapy and self discovery! It is and always will be my passion!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First I try and get a good idea of what each student likes to paint or draw. After we have discussed the subject matter then I find out what tools they have available and the level that they are at and go from there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Well besides studying fine arts and education in college I would say the bigger teacher here is the life experiences. There will always be something new to discover and I feel like I will forever be a student of the universe.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Recently I have lowered my prices to $20 dollars an hour because I feel that there is such a large need for creative expression. I want to help you with that. Together we can unlock those hidden talents within that are just waiting to be explored!
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching in my studio as an after school program which eventually led to teaching adults as well. It brings me such joy to teach all ages.
What types of students have you worked with?
My students come from a variety of backgrounds. Sam just want to keep it on a personal expression and others want to turn it into a way of life. It really doesn't matter to me at all what level you are at. Also, if you just want to play with line and color and not go the route of a realist that is fine too. What ever your heart desires and brings you joy.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I love how people are finding a ways to share their messages worldwide through art. Whether that is a rainbow that you drew and put in your window or using the platform of Facebook and Instagram to express how you feel.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
You want to find a teacher where there is no shaming of any kind. There is no right and there is no wrong, it's all about the journey and the expression of art. A teacher should be uplifting and create an atmosphere for the student to feel safe and allow their imaginations to go wild!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Maybe have a good idea of what medium you would initially like to start with and express the possibilities of other interests for the future. You could also express to your art teacher if you have a favorite artist that you are drawn to.
