I've designed and written for animation and television, cartooned for magazines and newspapers, and directed hundreds of commercials, written and created hundreds of films, docs, music videos, comics, novels and more. Maybe I can help you. And I love beginners and first timers, who just want to create, have fun, relax and don't know how. Let's talk!

Hailing from cornfields of Canton, Ohio, Aaron made his roundabout-way to Portland, Oregon in 2007. He made many stops along the way from studying art at Atlanta College, to doing museum paintings in New Oreleans, to Austin living out of his car in true struggling artist form, to a quick jaunt to Alaska before landing in San Francisco.
Here he returned to his fine art education there studying under brilliant artists and having his own art featured in local galleries and going on to teach on the college level. It was here he dreamed up the idea to start his own fine art studio in Portland,
Tutoring sessions in my St Johns studio provide a unique and focused environment for all ages to begin or to develop painting and drawing skills. Here are a couple of students commenting on their experience with me:
“Not many teachers have Suzy’s understanding of the craft of painting, but what makes her unusual, I think, is her respect for you as an individual. No two people paint alike, and Suzy’s strength is that she doesn’t try to stuff you into a preconceived mold, come hell or high water. She figures out pretty quickly what you’re about, and helps you get where you’re trying to go.”
My experience with painting has been my whole life; both of my parents are painters. I teach in a very inclusive, dialogue kind of way. I want everyone to participate and communicate, however I realize that some people are on the shy side. I am very open to all personalities and all kinds of people expressing themselves they want to through their art. Everyone has something say, I want their voice to be heard. I myself am more on the quiet side, however I am also very goofy and silly. I use oil paints the most, it is the medium I have had the most exposure to.
