Austin Eddy earned his Bachelor of Fine Art in 2005 from the Academy of Art University. After art school Austin had the opportunity to work as an animator on some of the most successful films in the last decade. You have probably seen his work in Avatar, The Hobbit, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and other films. After 10 years working in the film and animation industry Austin returned to his passion for painting and fine art. Austin currently works and resides in Portland Oregon where he teaches illustration at PNCA (Pacific Northwest College of Art) and fine art techniques at his private Art Studio and Online.
Whether working with a new student to discover their talent and learn the fundamentals or helping a more experienced student expand their skill set and discover new techniques, it's working with people to help them realize their potential and artistic vision that I enjoy most about teaching!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
During the initial 30 minute free consultation, the students previous experience with art education and studio practice is covered. The students goals and aspiriations as an artist are discussed. A preliminary schedule is organized around each individuals availability.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I recieved my BFA, with honors, from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California, in 2005. After Art School I went on to have a career as an Animator for Games, TV and Film, working on some of the most successful films of all time, including Avatar, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Prometheus, Cloverfield, Spiderwick Chronicles, Enchanted and many others. In tandem to my career as an Animator, I also pursued a successful career as a fine artist, exhibiting my work nationally and teaching fine art techniques from my studio and illustration classes at PNCA (Pacific Northwest College of Art)
