Steve Kleier Studio
About
I am a lifelong professional artist. I have worked as a commercial artist and now teaching for more than 10 years. I teach traditional drawing and painting skills including landscape, city scenes, people and still life. I know art history and can talk about that if you are interested. I am happy to show you the "rules" but also encourage creativity and personal expression. I am patient and can modify lessons to individual needs and interest. I enjoy teaching and am happy to see others progress. I am often complimented on how well I explain things. I am married with two children.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first thing is to talk to the student about their experience, goals and interests. I will suggest some lesson ideas and will demonstrate and critique. I can teach any level. Of course it is important that we communicate expectations and get along.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BFA in art from Montana State. I moved to Portland and worked in design and scene painting. I am currently teaching regular classes at the Oregon Society of Artists in Portland and the Keizer Art Association in Keizer, OR. I am a member of Watercolor Sociery of Oregon.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I suggest lessons be about 1.5 to 2 hours.
I charge $65 per lesson at my studio.
$75 if I travel to you
If you are ok with group lessons I have regular weekly classes that are lower cost.
What types of students have you worked with?
