About
My background is a collaboration of art history and exploration with lessons that are educational and open ended with opportunities for self growth.
I offer students a chance to explore a multitude of mediums and various projects to help them grow as artists in a supportive laid back atmosphere. Art should be fun and relaxin
I have been a community fine arts teacher for the local Boys and Girls clubs, and Enrichment Academy with Salem Keizer Education Foundation for six years. I have also been teaching 'wine and paint' nights this year.
Opening yourself up to new experiences, or expanding on the skills you have already gained in a supportive environment is what art is all about. Everyone deserves a chance to nurture creative expression in a non-judgemental collaborative setting.
I love seeing how creative students are and how they use their creativity to visually express how they see the world.
My goal is to help students learn a few tricks and help boost confidence as artists.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Most of the classes I have taught in a group setting. Individual lessons are taught based on what the student wants to learn, for instance basic drawing skills start with a simple still life creared in tandem. I bring a cornucopia of different mediums and papers for students to explore, that way people can try things out and find what works for them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 100+ hours of fine arts training from local colleges and work for the local school district. I have thousands of volunteer hours supporting the arts in the Willamette Valley as an instructor for local youth organizations.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Drawing instruction is $20 per class, this includes all supplies and travel.
Painting instruction is $25, includes 16x20 canvas, paint and supplies, plus travel.
Group classes are $35 per person and include 2 hours of instruction, paint supplies and canvas.

How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching art classes as a trade for fees at Boys and Girls club when I was a single broke Mom. They loved the class so much I was hired to come several times per week.
