How did you get started teaching?
With over 15 years in the fitness industry as a trainer and business owner and 13 years as a competitive athlete on the national stage in the sport of Ultimate Frisbee, Thomas is no stranger to the sports world.
It was actually quite by accident that he ran into the sport of Pickleball. Taking a walk through the park one morning with his coffee in Redding, California he ran across what looked like Tennis but on closer inspection realized it was something quite different. After winning his first game, and then playing a few hours later he was hooked.
What types of students have you worked with?
I specialize in bothe beginner Pickleball Players and Intermediate Players. I can also provide tournament partner training with basics including strategy.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Not all top players make great coaches.
- Make sure they have a reputable history as an instructor
- Make sure they certified
- Make sure they are insrured
- Ask about there focus as a player of instructor
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What do they really want to accomplish?
If it is a one off lesson that requires one off to learn something quickly then there are certain instructors for that.
Then ones I tend to work with will want to cimmit to their game and work on it for some weeks to not accomplish the same strategies and shots but work on the mechanics and skills week in and week out to get it to be a natural part of their game.
