Hello! I am Jennifer Balfour. I'm a Clarinet & Saxophone Music Instructor and Instrument Repair Technician at Robert's Music in West Warwick, RI. I have been playing on and working with these instruments since grade school, competing in school competitions through high school and eventually studying at UMass Lowell majoring in Music Performance.
I was invited to intern at a local music store during my time at UMass Lowell and found that I had talent in teaching beginner Clarinet and Saxophone lessons to new players and supplementary lessons to children looking to further improve in band class. From here, in 1999, I began working for Axelrod Music located in Downtown Providence, RI where I learned the craft of repairing the instruments that I loved to teach and play on. I continued to teach privately to both children and young adults that were looking to improve in school and better prepare for their Solo Ensemble and All-State pieces. Axelrod Music closed in the late 2000’s and I have since moved on to Robert's Music where I continue teaching students and repairing instruments in West Warwick, RI.
During my time teaching I’ve had students go on to be very successful from auditioning and participating in RI All-State and scoring high at RI Solo Ensemble to adult students improving their already established skills and joining community bands and orchestras. Teaching is a very enjoyable experience and seeing my Students achieve their goals and succeed at learning new music and skills is my ultimate goal!
