About

As our programming is designed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, we bring something to our training that other coaches don't; a systematic approach to acquiring new skills and the behavior change strategies necessary to maintain those skills long after practice ends. Head trainer Rick Angus is, as mentioned, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, NASM Certified Personal Trainer, Youth Exercise Specialist, and Certified Speed and Agility Coach. We specialize in football, track, and overall strength and conditioning.

Growing up, I had very little natural athletic ability. I loved sports and being a part of a team, but I could not stand that I did not have the athletic ability to contribute to the team's success. I made a conscious decision around the age of 14 to not let poor genetics or a lack of a natural gift be an excuse and began studying all things sports, fitness, and nutrition in order to reach my full athletic potential. Between the time I began freshman year of high school to the time I graduated college, I turned myself from the slowest and weakest player on last string to a 4 year collegiate starter and senior captain of the football team as well as a top performer on the track in multiple events. It was this transformation that taught me the value of hard work and persistence. I am now devoted to help others experience the same success athletically, as it has transcended across all areas of my life.

My experience with SKAT has been nothing short of amazing. From gathering baseline stats, breaking down my goals, and designing a customized routine to get me there. My expectations were exceeded by a long shot after working with other trainers in the past. What seperates Rick Angus from the rest, is the knowledge, qualifications, and the highlest level of commitment to his clients. 10-star rating in my book!

    Frequently asked questions

I begin by getting to know the athlete; what are their goals? What do they see as their strengths? Their weaknesses? I then complete a thorough assessment to identify limitations both physically (muscle imbalances, etc.) or socially (what obstacles may their lifestyle pose in hindering them from reaching their goals.) I then establish a program, beginning with corrective exercises in order to ensure their body progresses appropriately and responds to the training in the safest, most effective manner possible. As the program progresses, I continue to increase athletic demand while focusing on sports specific movements.

My Masters degree and Board Certification in Behavior Analysis allows me to design programming that is completely tailored and individualized to each athlete. This is a systematic approach of acquiring skills using prompt fading and shaping strategies to ensure errorless learning so that we are not wasting time practicing doing things the wrong way. This approach allows me to use my other certifications in the most effective manner possible while designing programs. These certifications include NASM Certified Personal Trainer, Youth Exercise Specialist, and Certified Speed and Agility Coach.
