Personal Philosophy:

Core Starts from the floor! If you are looking for a challenging workout and want to improve core strength, then that is what I can provide you. The body’s true core goes from your nose to your toes. Many fitness experts misidentify the core as being limited to the muscles of the abdomen and the lower back. I specialize in creating efficient and effective workouts that train the core in all three planes of motion. I train your body by blending strength training, flexibility and cardiovascular endurance. This helps the body to feel better and to function better. When you feel good about yourself, you can take better care of your loved ones. Take care of yourself first and then you will have the energy and motivation to help those that are part of your everyday life!

Areas of Expertise:

I have experience in working with ‘tweens’, teens, triathletes and seniors as young as 75. My clients increase their core strength and endurance by incorporating Functional Integrated Training (F.I.T.) into their overall workouts. F.I.T. is a concept in which the body is integrated with hundreds of muscles working together to perform a variety of functions.

The goal for most people who eat healthy and exercise is to improve the look of their body. There is not a magic exercise or pill or diet to achieve the “perfect” body, but there is a new trend called F.I.T. that can be used to help achieve each person’s idea of what their perfect body is.

Functional programs are designed to mimic everyday activities. These activities range from lifting children, boxes, moving furniture, reaching for dishes on top shelves, hanging pictures, swinging golf clubs, surfing on the waves, and avoiding the defensive players as the running back runs the ball down the field.

A functional exercise will use reflex responses to keep balance, force the body to maintain a center of gravity and/or have a high carryover into work or sport. These movements have been shown to improve strength, power, endurance, flexibility, coordination, balance, agility and speed.

I am a W.I.T.S. (World Instructor Training Schools) certified personal trainer. W.I.T.S. is recognized by ACE and IACET. I teach group fitness Aquatics/Hydro Fitness, Pilates, Tabata, HIIT and FIT. In addition I have taught boot camp and balls and bands classes. I have an extensive background in swimming and experience in helping adults overcome their fears of the water. I have taught swimming to many children at all different levels, so they can become efficient swimmers and learn to enjoy the wonders of a water environment.

My health and fitness career started over 27 years ago at the Cooper Institute for Aerobics Research in the exercise physiology lab. I have completed certification of Sports Nutrition and Body Composition, BOSU Mobility and Stability for Active Aging Adults, Integrative Corrective Exercise Specialist, Integrative Core Training for Baby Boomer and Senior Populations and Pilates Matwork
