Hello, I’m Edwin Freeman. Coming out of high school, I was fortunate enough to be recognized as one of the top defensive prospects in the country. I received All-American honors and had the incredible opportunity to play in the Under Armour All-American Game, where I competed alongside and against future NFL stars like Myles Garrett, Dalvin Cook, Jamal Adams, Jabrill Peppers, Leonard Fournette, Adoree Jackson, and many others. It was an exhilarating experience, and I was thrilled to choose my dream school, the University of Texas at Austin. I was finally a Longhorn!
However, my first three months at Texas came as a surprise; I learned a valuable lesson that hit me hard. Despite my physical attributes and accolades, I realized that I knew absolutely nothing about the game—specifically about defense and schemes. This lack of knowledge set me back a year, as I ultimately redshirted. Coming in as a highly sought-after recruit, this experience humbled me tremendously.
Now, I’m here to teach and better equip you with that essential knowledge so you can be the best football player you can be, understanding the game.
