David N. says, "I can’t say enough about the incredible impact Coach Matt and Coach Mike have had on my son’s confidence both at the plate and in the field. When my son started playing, he was a bit unsure of himself, especially when it came to hitting and fielding. But after working with these two, the transformation has been nothing short of amazing. I highly recommend these two to help your player get to where they want to be." Read more

Your Baseball Training questions, answered

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Lessons.

How much do private baseball lessons cost?

Private baseball lessons cost $50 to $75 per 30-minute lesson and $80 to $140 per 1-hour lesson. The price depends on your location, the instructor's experience and reputation, the student's age, and whether the lesson includes extras like a video analysis of the player's performance.

Many coaches offer lower prices per lesson if you purchase a package that includes 6 or 10 lessons. The average package prices are:

  • 6 pack of 30-minute lessons: $270 – $420
  • 6 pack of 1-hour lessons: $450 – $720
  • 10 pack of 30-minute lessons: $400 – $600
  • 10 pack of 1-hour lessons: $700 – $1,100

Are private baseball lessons worth it?

Private baseball lessons may be worth it if your child currently plays the sport, loves it, and has expressed an interest in improving their skills and performance. Private lessons can help your child advance their skills, develop good habits, and avoid forming bad habits.

Motivation and a drive to improve are key factors in whether or not the lessons will actually help your child. It's important for your child to practice in between private lessons.

Children who receive private baseball lessons are usually more likely to advance to playing at higher levels than children who only receive group coaching during regular team practice. However private lessons don't guarantee your child will play collegiate or professional baseball.

What is the difference between private and semi-private baseball lessons?

In a private baseball lesson, the athlete trains one-on-one with an instructor who tailors the lesson specifically to their needs and skill level. In a semi-private lesson, two athletes work together with one instructor. Semi-private lessons, also called partner lessons, typically cost 10% to 20% less than private lessons. However, because the trainer's attention is divided between the two athletes, the athletes don't get the same level of individualized instruction as they would in a private lesson.

What age should you start pitching lessons?

Baseball instructors generally recommend that children start pitching lessons at around 8 to 12 years old, though there are no age requirements or exact rules. Learning fundamental pitching skills early on can help your child avoid developing bad habits that will be difficult for them to break later.

However, your child should not start taking pitching lessons until they are comfortable throwing the ball as well as catching the ball one-handed.

As a parent, I couldn't be happier with our experience at Young Brothers Academy. Their comprehensive approach to baseball development goes far beyond just teaching technique - they focus on building character, mental toughness, and physical skills simultaneously. The coaches here have a gift for being both supportive and challenging. They create an environment where my son feels encouraged to take risks and push himself, while also providing the direct feedback he needs to actually improve. It's rare to find instructors who can motivate kids while still holding them accountable. What really impressed me is how they've helped my son with the mental aspects of baseball. He's more confident in pressure situations now and has developed a much better understanding of game strategy. The character development piece is equally important - he's learning life lessons about perseverance, teamwork, and handling both success and failure with grace. The physical improvement has been remarkable too. His mechanics have improved significantly, and you can see the difference in his confidence when he steps into the batter's box or takes the field. If you're looking for baseball instruction that will develop your child as both a player and a person, Young Brothers Academy is the place. Highly recommend to any parent serious about their child's baseball development.
