I have always said that "everyone can sing". Some people joke "well you've never heard me". But, am a firm believer that if someone works hard enough to grow their singing skills, they will improve greatly and be able to sing things they never thought they could. I like to encourage my students to see the skills they already have and help them grow, instead of of using a more negative approach.
