MJ Tutorial

As a certificated professional educator for seventeen years, I passionately taught students in urban communities for the Los Angeles Unified School District. I hold a Master’s Degree in Cross-Cultural Education and completed coursework towards an Administrative Certificate in Education. I am highly qualified with a range of experience in data‐driven education in the context of urban schools and/or low‐income communities. My experience has also allowed me to teach Highly Gifted Magnet students for six years and serve as a mentor for aspiring teachers.

I have worked along with administration to plan and coordinate events, manage school budgets, lead professional development and training, evaluate teacher performance, and interview potential teacher candidates. I have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and I’m highly recommended by my previous supervisors (LAUSD) as a potential candidate for a leadership position.

My family and I relocated to Houston, TX in July 2013. I currently hold both a California and Texas Teaching Certificate . I have completed my second year of service with HISD, and I'm prepared to enter an administrative position. It is my goal to combine my range of experience with my ability to be a compassionate, enthusiastic, and committed educator who will make a positive contribution to our community.
