About
For the last 4 years, I have been the most popular teacher on campus. I tend to leave an impression on my students which makes them crave to come back to 6th grade! Of course, I suggest they move forward LOL! My students love how I make boring content become relatable and engaging-- not only am I knowledgeable in building reading skills, I also am a great mentor to help build my students holistically. I work with students who primarily speak Spanish and students who are 2-3 grade levels below. I am capable of helping them improve their linguistic skills as well as reading skills. I have a counseling background which allows me to develop rapport easily with the youth. All in all, my teaching style is engaging and comfortable yet keeping the main goal in mind which is PROGRESS.
I enjoy seeing the students began to believe in themselves. I love how I can provide them with the same knowledge and lessons their parents are trying to teach them and they actually become receptive to me giving that same advice. I love passing along wisdom to the next generation because after all they're the future!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Ultimately, rapport is imperative in the beginning stage. During the time of getting to know the students, I assess the student's reading level. Then, I assess the student's preferential way of learning and also what their interests are. This allows me to find reading material and ways to teach to help build the student up.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 5 years of counseling experience with people who have disabilities including intellectual deficits. I transitioned into education 5 years ago and became certified to teach early childhood- 6th grade core subjects. I am also certified in ESL-English as second language.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
30$ an hour--relative to my current salary in the educational system.
How did you get started teaching?
I saw the impact I was making with the youth when I volunteered at camps that services students with disabilities. My mentoring skills allowed the students to grow holistically and it moved me to work with youth in a more impactful way.
