Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Introduction, giving some background information about myself, then finding out what the client is aiming to achieve by training. Conducting one session at a discounted rate, customized to fit the needs of each specific client so that the client can decide whether or not the training is suitable for them before making a commitment. Then discussing the pricing and scheduling future sessions.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Certified fitness trainer through ISSA. Ex collegiate & professional football player. Experience working with clients of all age levels and experience levels.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Packages vary based on the number of sessions per month, the length of each session, whether the client comes to me or I go to them, and the type of training being conducted. For example, the more sessions you get per month in a package deal, the less each session will be.
How did you get started teaching?
Began by helping people who had less experience than I did in football and weight lifting and then worked for a company in which an established trainer helped me learn a lot about speed and agility training, did that for a few years and then studied to get my certification through ISSA.
What types of students have you worked with?
From ages as young as 4 years old to as old as 80 years old, from levels of no experience to professional.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a coach that is patient and criticizes you constructively and not just criticizes you. Be sure that when a coach is teaching, he/she is educating you and being technical about what you’re learning as opposed to just yelling at you and bashing you. There are different types of coaching styles, be sure to find the one that fits you and your needs.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Do I really want to do this? Am I willing to dedicate my time and effort into this? What do I want to achieve? Am I prepared to do whatever it takes to achieve it?
