About

Welcome to the Yoga Venture! My name is Shanna. I hold a Bachelor or Fine Arts in Modern Dance and a Yoga Certification from YogaBody’s Teacher’s College. I have been married to my husband for 15 years and together we have three beautiful children.

I have always loved health and fitness and they have always been a part of my life. It is my desire to share my knowledge and passion of health and wellness with you. I offer a variety of classes to help you stay strong both physically and mentally. These classes are safe and effective for any level of practitioner and focus on improving mobility and functionality of the body through the use of both flexibility and strength training. My classes are unique because in them you will receive personal attention and hands on instruction to help you safely navigate the poses and increase their effectiveness. The class sizes are small so you never will feel like a number or just another body in class. In every class modifications are given so you can feel comfortable and free to work at your own level.

I love yoga, I love what it has done for my body and my mind and how it has helped me navigate some of the most difficult part of my life. It is one of the greatest gifts that I have been given to have the opportunity to teach and share this wonderful practice with others.

I love meeting new people, and being a small part of their lives and stories. I love watching my clients progress and seeing how yoga has helped them meet their physical and emotional needs.

    Frequently asked questions

I like to get to know the student and a little bit about their lives. I like to know why they want to begin or continue a yoga practice and what their goals are, so that we are both clear about what is wanted and then we can make a game plan about how to get there together.

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance

    10+ years dance teaching experience

    2+ years Yoga Instructor

2 years Barre and fitness instructor

I used a varied pricing model, I try to find something that will work for everyone.
The pricing is built around if you want to practice, once, twice, or three or more times a week, and also if it's group or private instruction.
On average the group classes will range to less than $15 a class and the private instruction runs around $30 a lesson.

I started practicing yoga when I was pregnant and fell in love with it, not only for the physical benefits of the practice, but also for the emotional ones. I found myself more calm and relaxed in my day to day life and my body felt strong, stretched, and relaxed too.
I knew I needed to make yoga a bigger part of my life so I decided to certify and share the benefits of yoga with others.

I have worked with a wide variety of students. In my dance career, I taught students from age 4 all the up to students at Utah Valkey University where I was an adjunct faculty member.
In my yoga career, I teach a kids class where I've had students ages 4-8, however they do not make up the majority of my students.
The majority of my students range from 30's to 50's but I do also have clients who are in their 60's as well.

I would say to make sure that the teacher resonates with you, that you like their personality and style of teaching. Also, I would say to check their qualifications, in the Yoga world, certifications have wide varieties of requirements. For instance, some certifications are given after a weekend yoga retreat, so the teacher may not be well versed with the body and it may be more risky to take a class with someone like that. I always look for quality, someone who is experienced and knowledgeable about the body and who will really help me reach my personal goals. I want someone who will know my name when I come to class, who cares about me as an individual and not just as a number, someone who will notice me in class and give me feedback and personal instruction.
My last bit of advice is to find a teacher and studio that has built a good supportive and friendly community. It is amazing how much difference is makes when the other students are friendly and encouraging. A good community can help you reach your goals so much faster than if you do things on your own.
