Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
One aspect of the game that the majority of players lack are the fundamentals of the sport. You can not teach super complicated drills or moved without first conditioning the athletes mind to withhold such informations. The beginning of the session will start with fundamental drills in order to develop a sense of muscle memory for the way things should be done. After which the player will be put though a series of shooting tests in order to determine the level that each player is currently at. Once accomplished you must teach the student the value of each move, by this I mean how and when each of the moves taught can be implemented. Each session has to come around full circle and the student must understand the major take aways from each session which normally will end in another set of fundamental shooting and ball handling drills.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My name is Benjamin however you can call me Benji for short. I am a former Division I basketball player who was raised in Geneva, Switzerland. I have played/coached basketball all around the world which allows me to teach from a perspective that incorporates both the American game and the European game. I have worked with kids from as young as 7 years old to as old as 18 years old giving me a grasp on what kind of individual needs and skills a player should have and how to get there. I am very personable and energetic and above all patient. I enjoy working with children and have a very fun time doing so!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge 45$ per session. If you are looking to buy a package with multi pile tracings I can work with you on getting a discounted rate. Simply inquire with me about this!
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching basketball from an early age. I had some good teachers when I was a young players and always cherished their insight.
This is a feeling I wish to pass along.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students from all aroung the world. From the United States to Switzerland to Africa.
I have worked with students with the age ranges of 7 to 35 so I am well equipped to work with all different kinds of ball players.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
My advice would be don't worry so much about your skill level. The two most important things are the wildlingness to work hard and attention to detail. If you have both of those things the sky is the limit.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
The key is to be coachable. I believe it is the coaches job to evaluate and see where the student can improve. The students only job should be the listen carefully and execute.
