My typical process when working with a new student is first learning and studying their strengths and weaknesses. I start with the basics and build the complete athlete .
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a former collegiate athlete, awarded Defensive Player of the Year, Division II All-Star participant and starter, former semi-pro player, coach, and team owner. Former high school State Championship coach. I have played and coached every position on the defensive and offensive line for a combination of 30+ years..
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My prices for 4 two hour sessions is $180. That price includes training in every position on the offensive and defensive line on both sides of the football, long and short snap if so desired to learn the skill.
How did you get started teaching?
I got started teaching the sport as a high school coach after college. My desire is to teach athletes the proper technique and to develop and excel in their craft.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with middle school, high school, collegiate, and adult athletes.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A recent event for me was when I was training two high school lineman and their high school coach was also one of my athletes on the semi-pro level. The techniques that I showed the two athletes, their coach also recognized the same techniques and mentioned to them both during practice that he is familiar with the specific moves they were using because he was taught the same moves and technique. He encouraged his athletes to continue training with Armor Up because they will benefit greatly from the teachings.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
My advice to a student looking to hire a teacher is to hire someone with multiple years of experience, one who can teach their sport and demonstrate the proper technique.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should think about the position that they want to play, what level they want to perform at, the type of athlete they want to become, and the goals they want to reach. Most importantly, students should think through is are they willing and ready to dedicate and commit to putting in the work.
