The hope is a simple one. To teach the basics of sewing construction and alterations to children and adults. Ensuring that the skill continues to survive and evolve in a world that pushes the wasteful habit that is fast fashion.
Been teaching students in the Hampton Roads area since 2020, and have not enjoyed anthing more.
Seeing students grow more confident in their ability and skill in textile arts.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Explaining some history of sewing and different sewing methods, hand sewing and machine.
The first lesson is always sewing on a button and basic mending stitches as we discuss goals for the class. A project is picked.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Been sewing since 2017 with a few sewing lessons, and managing to get an apprenticeship with a master tailor. In 2019, working with Military and Law Enforcement making gear and uniforms for our troops, as well as a home business making costumes, and miscellaneous items, and tailoring for the community.

How did you get started teaching?
When I was eighteen, I got a job as an assistant teacher and absolutely loved watching children grow and develop new skills.
As I moved into the sewing industry, though learning so much on my own on how to create for the military and law enforcement. As well as home goods and upholstery, I found just how much I missed teaching children and adults. So I founded Needleheim to teach a still very much needed skill in todays society.
