About
Merrillee's Sewing Studio is located in beautiful Everett, Washington, near Silver Lake. I grew up sewing, learning from my mother, a couture seamstress who did tailoring for I-Magnin's, very fancy schmancy stuff. I sewed most of my own clothes through high school. After I married, it was shirts and jeans for my husband, and all of our children's clothes when they were young (and we were POOR!) Then came the sewing and crafting of couture Barbie clothes (like hand-beaded wedding dresses and ball gowns) and many other items through the years. It made complete sense for me to turn my love of designing and sewing into a business, and I have had a shop for many years where I create custom men's, women's, children's and pet apparel, as well as home dec items. I also love to TEACH sewing, and have several very wonderful students who have turned their love of the craft into successful businesses.
I LOVE seeing my students realize they CAN create something wonderful themselves, and that sewing machines are not to be feared...even sergers become a favorite useful tool.
I also enjoy teaching some beading and jewelry making to accessorize their their garments, as well as the use of my fancy Cricut Maker and other tools in embellishing items.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
All sewing lessons are one-on one, in order to address the skills each student may or may not already have. We generally start with learning about the sewing machine and make a simple bag, and progress from there. All curriculum and patterns are included in the lesson fee. You are welcome to bring your own machine if you like, but I also have several sewing machines, sergers, and various other necessary pieces of equipment for you use at the studio.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I grew up sewing, learning from my mother, who was a couture seamstress. I have been sewing for over 30 years, and have been teaching for over 15. My students have found success in using their talents and abilities in their own sucessful businesses, as well as simply enjoying the joy of sewing and crafting their own personal items.
