About
I can't imagine working in any other field besides the performing arts and I am passionate about helping artists reach their highest potentials! I use best practices to help adults and children find success who want to step up their game and take their skills and talents to the next level, whether it involves acting, dialects, or public speaking! I have worked with groups in school settings, theatres, corporate, and non-profit settings, as well as one-on-one coaching. My approach follows a student's own specific goals and objectives rather than imposing a one-size-fits-all set of instructions upon all my students, which may hamper a student's unique and authentic path to success. I have helped my students enjoy successes such as securing lead roles in regional theatres, making successful presentations in front of groups, getting into the high schools and colleges of their choice, and giving award-winning performances in their fields! Check out my LinkedIn profile and feel free to contact me. I look forward to working with you and discovering the heights of your potential! https://www.linkedin.com/in/rachel-glass-4aa43518/

How did you get started teaching?
I was invited to train as a Theatre teaching artist with an arts organization connected with the Lincoln Center (NY) in 1995 and I enjoyed working with the children in the program (ages preschool-grade 12). I was delighted at how they responded positively to me and were able to apply the concepts that I taught them to great effect! I have been teaching ever since and have continued to expand my program to include acting, voice-acting, dialect coaching, preparing for an audition, and public speaking . My student/client base includes adults and youth.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students ages pre-K thru 12th grade--in public, private, and home school settings. I have worked with adults in the performing arts industry and in other industries. I have worked with students whose first language is not English. I have worked with American students and with students who come from countries all over the world. I have worked with students from diverse cultures, traditions, races, and ethnicities. I am looking forward to the opportunity to work with you!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I love attending the Seattle International Film Festival every year to see the incredible variety of films that are shown from all over the world and to meet the actors and filmmakers who attend screenings and events at the Festival! It is one of the highlights of my year!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
--What are the coach's background/qualifications/years and scope of experience?
--Does the coach specialize in the specific things you are looking to work on? (There should be some indication of that on the coach's resumé; if you don't see it, ask the coach before investing; the coach may not specialize in the skill you need help on)
--Will the coach do extra work outside of the coaching session (i.e. find monologues, speeches, scripts, other resource materials for you)? That is a factor to consider when noting what a coach charges for a fee.
--Do you 'click' with the person whom you are hiring to be your coach? Personal chemistry is very important, especially in one-on-one work.
