About
I am an architect amd artist passionate about teaching EVERYONE to sketch while observing their community. Whether using the sketch lessons for travel or in your own neighborhood, you will see the world around you in a whole new way. This is for adults only (over 21) and for any level of art experience from very beginner thru advanced.
I enjoy seeing others find their creative self, finding their own unique sketching abilities and slowing down to really see the world around them.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The classes are 90 to 120 minutes. I usually meet at a cafe or my studio in downtown Seattle. You will learn to sketch at your place with ink first, then adding watercolors. Supplies are provided by Melanie.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am an architect and artist. I have traveled to many countries with many travel sketches in each country. From my home in Seattle, to Paris, to Italy, to Colombia, to Peru, and South Africa - all communities have something unique and special to sketch and become your own memory of your travels.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge generally by the 1/2 hour increments starting at 90 minutes. All supplies are included as having the right supplies is an important part of the process. Individual lessons or small group lessons. Age minimums are age 21. Group size max is 8.
How did you get started teaching?
I started after many of my architecture clients wanted to learn my quick sketching techniques for their own use - whether at home or when they travel. I learned that my techniques are easy, quick, and approachable for all levels.
What types of students have you worked with?
All levels from never taking art classes to more advanced artists wanting to learn my techniques.
