I am an Artist and Teacher and have taught many people (children and adults) to creatively learn the use of watercolor and acrylic paints and drawing basics, for 20 years. My beginning classes include color mixing and theory, the use of water-based paints, experimentation, brush strokes, and composing and developing personal ideas for paintings. Paints are luscious and beautiful things. Knowing how to use the mediums gives one control over what and how to develop skills to paint with. Drawing concepts and basics are also a part of ongoing classes to help one to see color and shape and composition of the shapes and forms in objects they wan...

I've been teaching oil painting for over a decade while I also have an active professional practice -showing and selling my paintings! All levels are welcome from beginner to advanced. Your lesson will be tailored to your current level, your goals, and your interests. Most of all, your lesson will be fun! I always stress the idea that painting is a skill much like playing the piano. It's all about practicing to build the skill. With the right instructor, you can accelerate more easily to the next level. I specialize in helping students first master basics and then in develop your own voice. (I also think we need creativity more than ev

I'm really interested in catching the movement and feel of the subject drawn. Teaching my students the shapes that will help to build structures to convey what they are seeing or imagining. Also covering the effects of lighting and shadow to create depth and reality to the drawn image.

Alexandra N. says, "Had a blast! Anjl is very open, fun and supportive. Stan was the same. I haven't painted since high school art class. This reminded me how much I enjoy it and I surprised myself. Walking around and seeing everyone else's finished vision was eye opening. We all have creativity in us. Just have to allow it to come forth. Met some great people and laughed all night! Highly recommended!!" Read more

Carl is musician first, guitarist second, which I appreciate a lot. He has an uncanny way of knowing what to teach me next. This goes all the way back to our first lesson, when I gave him a few tidbits of information about where I was with the instrument and what I was looking for. He started off with some cool modal stuff that I'd never seen before that tied what little I already knew together beautifully. I leave every lesson with new insights, feeling motivated and excited about my progress. (And believe me I've had my share of guitar instructors for whom I would not say the same.)
